Natalie is on the cover of February issue of InStyle. She chatted with the magazine about romance, Black Swan, and what she looks for in a man. Here is a little sneak peek of her interview.

On what she looks for in a partner: “I look for all the same things I would in a friend. Obviously, you need the sexual attraction too, so it’s like your best friend who you are also really attracted to.”

On what she would do if she could go unrecognized for a day: “I would make out in the park! [Laughs.] That’s the thing I would most enjoy doing in New York, and it’s something I’ll never do. I’d also have loud, public conversations with my friends about personal things. Even if no one is paying attention—and most of the time, no one cares—you never know who is at the next table.”

On the concept of friends-with-benefits relationships: “I certainly have friends who could deal with that and others who could not. It’s something I’ve seen in high-achieving women – they compartmentalize. You’ve got your work, your friends, your exercise, and your sex. [Grins.] You can tick off those boxes.”

You can read the article/interview with Natalie which will be published in January’s Vogue below.

Some actresses get mired in prettiness and never reach the dark place where the great work hides. Natalie Portman is the opposite. At 29, she is in the process of smashing through the aura of perfection she carries—Queen Amidala from Star Wars, hugely gifted beauty with a Harvard degree, and vegan to boot. Drama is dangerous, heroines are carnivores, and talent demands burnt offerings. As Nina in Darren Aronofsky’s gory ballet tale Black Swan, she transforms herself from timid ingenue to powerful maenad. The film is set in a ballet company where dancers vie for the attention of a coldly knowing choreographer; when he casts the virginal, anorexic Nina to star as Odette/Odile, the white swan and the black swan in Swan Lake, she must literally break through her body and lose her mind to be reborn as an artist. Portman’s performance is a tour de force that takes the audience inside Nina, keeps you with her as she transgresses taboos, and makes you participate, for a few thrilling moments when Nina becomes the swan, in the kind of transcendent self-loss that only artists know.

Natalie is on the cover of the January 2011 edition of Vogue! She looks stunning, I hope we see more from this photoshoot soon. Thanks to JustJared for the heads up.

The magazine recently looked inside the training that the 29-year-old actress went through to prepare for her role in Black Swan.
To lengthen and strengthen her body, Natalie worked eight hours a day, six days a week with Mary Helen Bowers, a former dancer in the New York City ballet.
Mary believes that “you can really transform any body type into one looking like a ballerina: long, lean, sculpted, and strong, but still very elegant.”
