The “Long List” for the Orange British Academy Film Awards in 2010 has been released this morning. Natalie is in the list of Leading Actresses for the part of Nina Sayers / The Swan Queen in Black Swan. Congratulations!

“The Long List” is the result of Round One voting by members of the Academy. The first round of voting reduces the films down to fifteen in each category. Round Two voting, which opens today, will reduce these fifteen contenders down to the five nominations in each category. The nominations for the Orange British Academy Film Awards in 2010 will be announced on Tuesday January 18th.

UK’s Marie Claire has published a small feature for Black Swan (which opens on January 21 in the UK) in its February issue. There is also a snippet of Natalie in the Hair section where hair colour specialists and experts comment on her hair style. Scans have been added to the gallery, and you can read the article below.

Natalie Portman describes the pain she endured to play a dancer in her new film. Talk about suffering for your art. For Darren Aronofsky’s new psycho sexual thriller, Black Swan, Natalie Portman trained for ten months to become a ballerina – no easy task when you’re 29. ‘There were a few days when I thought I might die.’ she says. Take the time she dislocated a rib during filming. ‘If I was touched there, it literally felt as if I was being stabbed,’she says. But, like dancers, who often carry injuries, the actress learned to live with it. Part of the art is hiding all the pain.’

Natalie made her 2011 awards-season debut by winning the lead acting award as the Best Actress for Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan from the Kansas City Film Critics Circle. Congratulations!

Update: It just became known that today The Online Film Critics Society has also named Natalie the Best Actress For Black Swan. Great beginning of awards season, isn’t it?
