When Natalie was ten she was spotted by a man from Revlon and he introduced her to Revlon agents and she told them that she didn't want to model, she wanted to act, so they introduced her to acting agents. She spent three summers in a theater camp. After that she skipped a grade due to her excellent grades and was put in the 8th grade. Most people in her school considered as a dork cause she loved school so much. In 1993 Natalie made her first performance in the off-broadway musical "Ruthless" as an understudy. "I kept laughing on stage because I was having so much fun with this other girl, she would cross her eyes at me and I would start laughing, and people would be like, Natalie your not supposed to laugh on stage. She participated at the auditions for the role in "The Professional", she was first rejected for being to young, then after some more auditions the director Luc Besson chose her to play Mathilda Lando. NatalieĆs parents felt the script was to violent and ask for it to be adjusted. The adjustments were made, which led to a different ending.
When Natalie was filming outside of New York her and her mother went to Paris. Her father urged her to read the Diary of Anne Frank, when they went to Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam. The book had a big impact on Natalie's life.
The filming for "The Professional" began on June 1st and was finished on July 23rd. The major scenes were filmed in Paris between July 28th and October 7th. Here is some words Luc Besson said about Natalie: "Natalie had no experience before. The first time we have seen one or two thousand girls and she was the best. You explain, she listens and sheĆd do it, so simple."
During 1994 Natalie played a role in the short film "Developing", which was shown on tv a year later. Natalie played Nina a young girl whose mother is suffering from breast cancer. In 1995 Natalie played Marty in "Beautiful Girls" along side Lauren Holly and Rosie O'Donnell. Natalie said when she read the script she fell in love with the character Marty. NatalieĆs next role was in the action-thriller "Heat" where she played Al Pacino's step daughter. The filming for this movie began in 1995 in Los Angeles. Here is what the Director had to say: "When I met her, you could tell she was kind of a prodigy. In the movie, she has a very short amount of screen time to believably communicate a child who is seriously dysfunctional without any overt hysteria or exaggerated dialogue, and she delivers. Only someone with serious talent can do that."
Soon After, Woody Allen offered her a role in the movie "Everyone says I Love You". Natalie accepted. The audition for the part was rather short, "I met him, I shook his hand, he said Hi, Im Woody, and asked me three questions, Where do You live?, How old are you?, Are you free for the fall?" After that Natalie turned down a few roles. Such as "The Ice Storm", "Romeo & Juliet" and "Lolita". In 1997, Natalie played Queen Amidala in the Prequels of Star Wars. She said the movie was the first movie that was like a real job! The movie would soon after do well! In 1998, Natalie appeared in the movie Anywhere but Here, with Susan Surrandon. She first turned the role down but accepted after the script was changed. After 1998 Natalie played the lead role in Where the Heart Is as Novalee Nation, a pregnant women who was abound at a Wal-Mart one day.
In 2000 Natalie went back to the Star Wars set for the "Attack of the Clones", with Hayden Christensen this time playing Anakin. In 2002 Natalie participated in Domino One, a movie some one from her collage directed. Later in the year she went on to act in "True" a segment from the French movie "Paris, je t'aime", she also had a small part in "Cold Mountain" as Sara. In 2003 Natalie played Samantha in Garden State along side Zach Braff. In 2004 Natalie played Alice in Closer, the movie did excellent!
In 2005 Natalie went back to Star Wars for the last time as Padme. Later in the year she started in Free Zone, where two women embark on a road trip after they are brought together by circumstance. Natalie also had a role in V for Vendetta a graphic novel turned movie, which i due to come out later in this year. In 2006 Natalie will star in Mr.Magoriums Wonder Emporium as a Depressed Manger. She will also star in "Paris, je t'aime".
